Another AI misuse in potentia

Bluesky, do not make the same mistake Twitter/X is making with AI.

AI these days is just bad news to all industries and a middle finger to the talent of hardworking employees. Lest we forget all the cautionary tales of Artificial Intelligence taking over, like The Terminator for example...!

In all honesty I can see the potential for AI to be used properly as a way to lighten the workload, as long as we don't get lazy with it. But unfortunately it's extremely easy to misuse and abuse AI these days, just look at all the AI generated art on DeviantArt for example along with video game companies and media companies using generative AI instead of hiring talented people.

If they are able to actually use AI ethically and not flip the bird at actual hardworking employees then I can accept it, but if they go full AI-only then I might have to find another social media platform.

There needs to be laws and regulations on AI on the global front...

Dude, BlueSky is way more shittier than twitter. I'm getting tired of Ai generated stuff.

Maybe try Mastodon instead? ( https://mastodon.social/about )
It's less popular than Twitter/"X"/"Xwitter" & BlueSky, but reportedly it's very good for getting in touch with other artists. And... It's not run by a crazy-person. :)

@Yatsufusa As someone who uses it sometimes I can confirm and I may suggest another great alternative to Instagram: Pixelfed a free and open-source image sharing social network service. The platform uses a decentralized architecture. It uses the ActivityPub protocol, allowing users to interact with other social networks within the protocol, such as Mastodon, PeerTube, and Friendica (alternative to Facebook or Fessbuk like I nicknamed it XD). Pixelfed, like Mastodon, is part of the Fediverse, meaning people on Mastodon can follow accounts on Pixelfed, and vice-versa. It also means that signing up can be a little confusing to Fediverse neophytes: When getting set up, you will need to choose a server in order to share photos and follow other users. I for example use the German server due to the fact it obeys to German privacy laws which are pretty good despite Germany is part of 9 eyes.

In my personal experience with both Mastodon and Pixelfed you really feel to interact with people and there is no algorithm that punishes you with stupid shadowbans in case you don't post that often. I love the slow-paced atmosphere it has.

One of the reasons I'm here is because of AI. So tired of companies implementing AI features literally nobody asked for

@ShangXian I might be confusing stuff right now, but I vaguely remember 'XMPP' (formerly known as 'Jabber') originally wanting to unify instant messengers by letting all the protocols communicate via their servers. Which would have meant trusting a third party to safely handle and protect a ton of login data. Which was why the whole idea fell apart immediately - but for some reason they went public regardless - and in doing so created 'one more instant messaging protocol' - rather than unifying anything.

At a glance, 'Fediverse' seems to be taking a comparable approach, just with social media sites. Correct me if I took a wrong turn somewhere, but from an initial glance, it appears to me that the 'Fediverse' project would seem equally doomed. (This is the first time I'm feeling 'less' optimistic about Mastodon after hearing somebody talk about it.)

@Yatsufusa I am interested to know more about the downs of Mastodon. Do you have a link?

@ShangXian The only 'downside' of Mastodon I personally know about would be "being less popular than comparable services".

Despite handing out 'various flavors of advice' to artists here on NG at time, I'm not a fan of "social" media as such. I have email and a phone if I want to get in touch with my friends. No need for anybody to reinvent that. ;)

To me it's a mere question of "Which of these services do I recommend to artists when they tell the world 'once again' that they are fed up with Twitter/"X"...?" Or... you know: 'BlueSky'. ;)

I have that great quote about Mastodon from @vekoN over at my FAQ ( https://yatsufusa.newgrounds.com/news/post/1487260 ), which is the most in-depth user review I've ever read about their service.

...
In case you just meant 'a link to Mastodon':
https://mastodon.social/about
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mastodon_(social_network)

@Yatsufusa @vekoN Thank you for these links! I'm not a fan of social media too. I've tried some of them (Twitter, IG, FA, DA etc.) but nothing really gave me so much inspiration and will to try new things like NG which seems to combine the old and the new Internet has to offer.

I will gladly read the links, again thank you.

@ShangXian Don't overdo it. ;) You will not hurt anyone's feelings if you 'don't' become knowledgeable about 'everything that exists'. You already do _a_lot_!

@Yatsufusa During studying breaks I love reading about stuff and your posts are one of my favourite to read due to the overall well-built structure in terms of thesis and links used to give further knowledge.
Thanks for the thought though :)

@ShangXian That just proves you need better reading material - but thanks for the flattery. ;3

I'm usually half-asleep when I comment & post on NG. If I stand out in a positive manner it is only because people lowering the standards.
"Quit slacking off, "people"." ;)
